What Is Electronic Voice Phenomena? (EVP)
This is what we know...
Electronic Voice Phenomena or EVP occur when voices or unusual utterances are captured on an audio recording device without the person making the recording being aware of these sounds at the time. Often the sounds are audible only upon playback, and some believe that these can be a form of paranormal manifestation.
The Human voice range is from 300 Htz to 3000 Htz. Most spirits have been recorded well below 300 Hz, ruling out someone else in the background making noise or whispering off camera. 3000, and 300 are the extreme ends. No one human alive has yet to hit either end, yet, we get EVP's every day that fall anywhere from the 0 to 300 Htz range.
We believe that Spirits/Ghosts are able to "Speak" briefly by using their energy imprint onto a magnetic strip. The same kind we use in cassette recorders. Even better are digital recorders because ghosts being energy can manipulate and record their voice in the range of the microphone. Ask them a question, and use a simple tape recorder with an external microphone to listen to the answers. We have yet to hear a ghost carry on a full conversation on tape, but if you're lucky, you'll get up to a full sentence on tape. (EVP)
Types of Haunting
The first of these we may descriptively refer to as an "intelligent" or a "human" type of haunting. In these manifestations, the entity or entities encountered seem to possess human personalities and emotions, albeit in a limited scope. They may at times appear visually in human forms, and are responsive to changes in external conditions such as the activities of the occupants of a household, the presence of investigators, or the rearranging of furnishings in a setting, all of which suggest their formerly having existed as living, cognitive beings.
These are what we call, presently lacking more applicable, scientific terminology, spirits or ghosts. Invariably they seem to be attached to particular sites, vicinities or dwelling places, usually though not exclusively houses. Disembodied voices from these spirit beings are sometimes registered on audio recording devices: spool or cassette tape recorders or digital recorders.
We sometimes find unexplained distortions imprinted on photographic film exposed at the site of a suspected haunting, which were initially not perceived by the photographer. The most frequent of these photographic anomalies is the appearance of "orbs"/"globules." These are spherical forms that are seen either singularly or in multiple images. They can be picked up by both still photographs and by videotape, the latter displaying them in motion. They're generally translucent and whitish, although they can appear in faint hues of red, orange, blue and green. Naturally, a responsible investigator must consider all possible explanations prior to ruling any irregularities to be genuine, paranormal phenomena
Residual Hauntings, also known as restligeistsare repeated playbacks of auditory, visual, olfactory, and other sensory phenomena that are attributed to a traumatic event, life-altering event, or a routine event of a person or place, like an echo or a replay of a videotape of past events. Ghost hunters and related paranormal television programs say that a residual haunting, unlike an intelligent haunting, does not directly involve a spiritual entity aware of the living world and interacting with or responding to it.
The third type of haunting, and undoubtedly the most frightening, is a demonic, or inhuman, haunting. In this case, the entity is similar to a traditional haunting because the spirit is intelligent and is existing in the present moment with you. Unfortunately, the emotion that is tying them to the earthly realm is usually anger. These spirits are malevolent and hostile, suffering from psychological instability or distress stemming from an unresolved conflict with the people who are being subjected to the demonic activity. Demonic presences tend to be unleashed' in order for them to manifest.
